Charlie Zahm is one of the most popular soloists at Celtic music festivals, Scottish Games and maritime music events anywhere east of the Mississippi. With a baritone voice some have described as "coming along once in a generation," Charlie has become one of the most successful performers on the Celtic festival circuit, weaving magical moments of Scottish history for the listener and viewer, with passion for the performance and a chosen repertoire pleasing to all members of a family. A master of the guitar as well, Charlie brings an authentic love and respect for the music he sings and with dashes of humor and light in his eyes, he will draw you into the stories of his songs!

Harp Circle

Celtic Harp Circle

Throughout much of history, the harp has been closely associated with traditional music in Scotland, Ireland and Wales.  This beautiful instrument quickly stirs the emotions in all who hear it.  A haunting Scottish air can bring tears to the eyes while a lively dance tune will get the feet tapping and the body moving! Several harpers from all over New England will play a wide variety of different music types from the Celtic world including slow airs, reels, jigs, hornpipes and strathspeys.

Think of Scottish Country Dancing as a cross between square or contra dance and ballet.  It's a modern form of the country dancing popular in England and Scotland in the 18th century. The dances developed over many centuries as itinerant dance masters traveled from clan to clan teaching dances.   Dances are of three types, distinguished by their tempos: lively reels, moderately fast jigs, and slow strathspeys.
